This prestigious event will showcase the best young curlers from across the globe. It’s the first time the championship has been held in Aberdeen.

Supported by EventScotland, Scottish Curling and Aberdeen City Council, the event promises to be a wonderful opportunity for all involved and to leave a strong sporting legacy for young people in the city and throughout Scotland.

Bruce Crawford, CEO of Scottish Curling said: “We are delighted to be working with Curl Aberdeen to host the 2018 World Junior Curling Championships in Scotland. We have a strong tradition of curling at world junior level, with our teams winning 17 medals in the last 14 years.  Coming a week after the end of the Olympic Games, we hope to use this as a catalyst for increasing participation in curling as a legacy for the future.”

Paul Bush OBE, VisitScotland’s Director of Events, said: “As the home of curling, Scotland is the perfect stage for the World Junior Championships and EventScotland is proud to be supporting the delivery of the second of four international curling events that are taking place from 2016 until 2020.  It is particularly exciting to be hosting the World Junior Championships in Scotland’s Year of Young People 2018, as we celebrate the inspiring talents and contributions of young people across the country.’’

The local organising committee for the event, is also delighted to take this opportunity to show appreciation for its principal event sponsor, accountancy firm Johnston Carmichael. This collaboration will help deliver an outstanding World Junior Curling Championship, as Sandy Manson, Chief Executive of Johnston Carmichael explained:

“Curling is a very accessible, lifelong sport that develops a range of important skills and encourages participation from people of so many different ages and backgrounds – and these are all attributes that resonate with the Johnston Carmichael brand. We’re excited to play our part in helping to honour this progressive sport and engage our people, clients and the community in this major sporting event.”
