Juniors

Curl Aberdeen run a comprehensive programme for young people wishing to take up the sport of curling. Young people age 8 – 21 years are catered for through our coaching sessions with the aim to join Curl Aberdeen Junior League games along with competing in other local and national competitions if interested. All our coaching sessions are run by Royal Caledonian Curling Club (RCCC – the national governing body) qualified coaches and have a strong focus on the RCCC Skill Awards Programme.

The RCCC Skill Awards Programme is designed to improve young curlers’ skills through a series of awards which become gradually more challenging. The programme is open to all RCCC affiliated members and is encouraged as part of our junior sessions.

There are two sections to each Skill Award; a practical on-ice assessment and a written assessment. Passes must be achieved in both sections to achieve the Skill Award. On successful completion each Skill Award, a signed certificate and badge of the appropriate colour is sent to the candidate.

Our session times are Tuesday 5pm – 6pm and Saturday 8.30am – 9.45am. Both sessions are open to all young people aged over 8 years and can be joined at any point during the season. The start date for the 2016 – 17 season is Tuesday 27th September 2016 and Saturday 1st October 2016.

All equipment is supplied including stones, brushes and sliders. All you need is warm, loose fitting clothing and clean, flat, rubber soled shoes (trainers are ideal) to change into for curling. Delivery sticks allow stones to be delivered from a standing position or wheelchair and are available for those with mobility issues.
