Curl Aberdeen run a comprehensive programme for young people wishing to take up the sport of curling. Young people age 8 – 21 years are catered for through our coaching sessions with the aim to join Curl Aberdeen Junior League games along with competing in other local and national competitions if interested. All our coaching sessions are run by Royal Caledonian Curling Club (RCCC – the national governing body) qualified coaches and have a strong focus on the RCCC Skill Awards Programme.
The RCCC Skill Awards Programme is designed to improve young curlers’ skills through a series of awards which become gradually more challenging. The programme is open to all RCCC affiliated members and is encouraged as part of our junior sessions.
There are two sections to each Skill Award; a practical on-ice assessment and a written assessment. Passes must be achieved in both sections to achieve the Skill Award. On successful completion each Skill Award, a signed certificate and badge of the appropriate colour is sent to the candidate.
